RAWANG, 29 May – A sudden forest fire broke out last night in the hills of Rawang, Selangor, prompting an overnight operation involving 16 firefighters who battled the blaze for over three hours. The fire was finally extinguished in the early hours of the morning, but not before approximately 3 acres of forest were reduced to scorched earth. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Mukhlis, stated in a press release this morning that after receiving an emergency call, 16 firefighters were deployed from three nearby fire stations. They arrived at the scene at around 8 p.m. and immediately began firefighting efforts.
“The affected forest spans around 4 acres, and about 3 acres were destroyed by the fire. Thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities,” he said.
Firefighters worked tirelessly for three hours and managed to fully extinguish the blaze by around 1 a.m. the following day.
The fire is believed to have started around 7 p.m. in a forested area near Anggun 2, Rawang, Selangor.
The wildfire spread rapidly, fueled by highly flammable trees, and raged across a large section of the hillside. The intense flames lit up the night sky with a red glow as the fire burned uncontrollably for more than three hours.
