Kuala Lumpur, April 17
– In a symbolic gesture marking Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Secretary-General Anthony Loke presented a specially crafted Royal Selangor pewter plate engraved with a dragon motif and the Chinese inscription "东风浩荡,实干兴邦", which loosely translates to "Mighty Eastern Wind, Nation Thrives Through Diligence."

Loke, who served as Xi’s minister-in-attendance during his three-day visit, handed over the gift this morning before President Xi departed from his hotel in Putrajaya. The two leaders briefly discussed the meaning behind the inscription and took a commemorative photo together.

Loke said the phrase reflects both the spirit of revitalization and the practical governance approach that has driven China’s success over the past four decades. He expressed admiration for China’s commitment to progress through action rather than rhetoric — a trait exemplified by leaders from Deng Xiaoping to Xi Jinping.

"I conveyed my party’s warm regards and shared our hope that China continues to lead with the momentum of the ‘Eastern Wind,’ serving as a responsible global power and a role model for Asia and beyond," Loke said.

He added that President Xi’s tour of Southeast Asia, which includes visits to three countries, is expected to yield fruitful outcomes. Loke also praised China’s vision of building a “community with a shared future for mankind,” emphasizing its potential to offer a constructive and inclusive framework for a more balanced and harmonious global order.
