A 10-year-old boy in Malaysia tragically passed away after choking on an eyeball-shaped gummy candy at school. The incident occurred while he was eating the candy, which became lodged in his throat, causing him to lose consciousness in the hallway. He was quickly discovered and rushed to the hospital, where medical staff managed to remove the intact candy from his mouth. His father, devastated by the ordeal, described how his son suffered from prolonged oxygen deprivation, leading to his eyes rolling back and vomit emerging from his mouth and nose. Despite two days of intensive medical efforts, the boy succumbed to his condition on the evening of the 20th.
According to China Press, the father had dropped his son off at school for a religious class at around 2:15 PM on the 18th. Less than an hour later, he received a distressing call from the teacher, informing him that his son had collapsed. Rushing to the scene, he found his child unconscious, with his eyes rolled back and vomit present. Overwhelmed with grief, he broke down in tears. Though emergency responders briefly restored the boy’s heartbeat, he was later transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit due to the severity of his oxygen deprivation.
Reports indicate that the boy was walking to the restroom with classmates when he suddenly lost consciousness in the hallway. His shocked peers immediately alerted a teacher, who attempted CPR but was unable to revive him. It was only when medical personnel arrived that they successfully retrieved a chocolate gummy candy from his mouth.
As reported by ET Today News Cloud, the boy’s father shared his sorrow, explaining that doctors had warned of his son’s critical condition due to the extended lack of oxygen. Despite their best efforts, the child tragically passed away on the night of the 20th.
