(Kuala Lumpur, 20th February) — A crocodile has been spotted in the Klang River near Mid Valley!

Multiple videos circulating online show the Klang River, located between the Mid Valley Megamall and KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur, where a large crocodile was seen basking in the sun on the riverbank this afternoon.

In the footage, the crocodile can be seen leisurely sunbathing and occasionally opening its mouth to cool down, with no other crocodiles in sight nearby.

The sight attracted a large crowd of onlookers, many of whom gathered on the nearby overpass and tall buildings to capture footage.

The police and Civil Defence Force were soon called to the scene to capture the crocodile. At least three police cars were seen lined up on the overpass, with a large number of officers present to maintain order and discuss plans with the Civil Defence Force to catch the crocodile.

It was reported that Civil Defence Force members, equipped with tools, crossed obstacles such as stone pillars to reach the area where the crocodile had been sunbathing, but they discovered the crocodile had already left.

Despite searching the nearby area for an hour, no trace of the crocodile was found.

This is not the first time a crocodile has been spotted in the river. As early as the 4th of this month, a crocodile was seen in the same area. Two days later, a similar-sized crocodile was spotted near Masjid Jamek in the Klang River, which could potentially be the same one.

It is reported that the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) will place warning signs in the area where the crocodile was sighted. Until the crocodile is captured, locals are urged to remain vigilant.
