Petaling Jaya, March 5 – Genting Sempah, once a refreshing retreat, is now plagued by litter, prompting concerns about environmental neglect. A man named Rulfarhan recently visited the area to enjoy the cool breeze but was instead met with piles of garbage, dampening his mood.
Sharing his frustration on TikTok (@rulfarhan), he criticized the lack of civic responsibility among visitors, lamenting that a once-popular scenic spot had turned into an unofficial dumping ground.
"It’s an eyesore. I came here to relax, but the sight of all this trash completely ruined it," he expressed.
The video quickly gained traction on social media, sparking discussions among netizens. Many voiced disappointment over how Malaysia’s potential tourist attractions are being ruined due to poor maintenance and irresponsible littering.
One commenter recalled visiting Genting Sempah in 2012 when it was still clean and enjoyable, only to find it now overrun with waste.
In response, some social media users have taken the initiative to organize cleanup efforts, hoping to restore the area’s former beauty so that locals have more choices for escaping the heat.
"Keeping our environment clean is a shared responsibility. If we all play our part, more places in Malaysia can thrive as top tourist destinations," one netizen remarked.
