More Than Wei Xiaobao! Man Follows His Father's Advice, Expands Family with 20 Wives, 104 Children, and 144 Grandchildren!
In modern society, most couples practice monogamy, except in some remote and underdeveloped regions. In Tanzania, an East African country, a man has married 20 wives, fathered 104 children, and has 144 grandchildren. He explained that his motivation for building such a large family stemmed from a single statement made by his father.
In a village in the Njombe region of southern Tanzania, MC Ernesto Muinushi Kapinga recently introduced his massive family to the public in an interview with media company Afrimax. Kapinga revealed that he married his first wife in 1961, and the following year, his eldest son was born.
Recalling his past during the interview, Kapinga shared that his father once told him, "Our family is too small; it must grow." Taking his father’s words to heart, he married five wives within a few years and continued expanding his family, eventually marrying a total of 20 wives—seven of whom are biological sisters. Together, these 20 wives gave birth to 104 children, who then further extended the family with 144 grandchildren.
Kapinga stated that not all of his wives live with him—some have passed away or chosen to leave. Additionally, when he first got married, his father paid the dowry for his first five wives, as he wished for their family lineage to continue. "Later on, I married the other wives on my own to strengthen the family's legacy. Today, I still live with 16 of them."
Despite their large household, Kapinga claims that he and his 16 remaining wives live harmoniously without conflicts. The wives treat all the children as their own and raise them together. He also emphasized that although their family is enormous, their lifestyle is simple and filled with happiness.
