Kuala Lumpur, 11th –
Young aspiring agropreneurs, take note! A new initiative under the Youth Agropreneur Programme is now offering startup support worth up to RM30,000, aimed at empowering and motivating Malaysian youth to venture into agricultural entrepreneurship.
According to a recent announcement by the Department of Agriculture on Facebook, the value of the assistance has been increased from RM20,000 to RM30,000. This in-kind support is open to Malaysian citizens aged between 18 and 43 who are interested in developing a career in the agriculture sector.
To qualify, applicants must meet several criteria — including having a net monthly income below RM5,000.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is behind this initiative, providing practical startup support rather than cash. For those just getting started, participation in technical courses or training programs — either organized or recognized by the ministry or its agencies — is required.
However, individuals who already have active agricultural projects may be eligible for an exemption from training, provided they receive verification from an authorized body under the ministry.
Additionally, those who hold academic qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), or certificates, diplomas, or degrees from relevant institutions under the ministry, may also be considered for a waiver from the training requirement.
This enhanced support aims to create a new wave of young agropreneurs ready to drive innovation and sustainability in Malaysia's agriculture industry.
